  • double wind orchestra became standard
  • use of clarinets
  • brass still crooked
  • largely homophonic
  • periodic phrasing (balanced)
  • wind began to get solos
  • antiphonal between strings and wind
  • slightly longer works
  • occassionaly modulating to unrelated keys
  • no continuo part
