• Using a covert observation, therefore the participant would behave more naturally
• Non participant, therefore the participant will not be self conscious about being observed and behave more naturally

How is quantitative data will be collected?

• Use behavioural categories and count the frequency of how many times each punishment or reward the teacher uses
• Such as Praise/Shouting

How qualitative data will be collected?

• Event and Time sampling
• Write down descriptive information by observing a teacher in a classroom for a lesson
• Every 10 minutes we would write down what they are doing
• Such as Humming/Tapping with their pen

• Use Chi squared test
• To test of association whether to see if there is a relationship between the usage of punishments and reinforcements and the strictness of teachers
• Use the 0.05 significance and if the value is lower than the significance, reject Ho

Strength of the Practical

• Natural and covert observation
• Natural:
  Participants natural and spontaneous behaviour as it happens in the participant’s natural habitat
  These types of observation are more likely to be covert which can have ethical issues
• Covert:
  Participants beave more naturally as they are not aware they are being observed
  Ethical issues as observing people without their knowledge means they could not have given informed consent
