how is a sacrifice in faith portrayed
nothing will be lost, everything will be gained
only he who draws the knife gets Isaac
outward world vs spiritual world
outward world is one of imperfections (only one who works gets bread), vs spiritual world where everything is fair and just
the act to sacrifice Isaac is one of the spiritual world not the outward world
why is sacrificing for god not weird
because it is someones highest belief, people sacrifice their lifes in war for the country because it is their highest belief. this is the same thing
why is Abraham loving Isaac integral to the story
because thats what made it hard. there are plenty of stories of parents killing their children, but despite hie love Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac for god. this was the hardest possible trial for Abraham. and he does this without relinquishing his faith
what is knight of resignation (princess example)
what are abarhams two beliefs regarding the outcome of his trial which is a testament to his faith
1) god takes back his command which is absurd
2) somehow Isaac is brought back from the dead which is impossible
this is because god is love and god won’t go back on his promise
what is knight of faith (princess example)
what is resignation
last stage before faith
what would Abrahams attitude have been if he was a knight of resignation
what happens to abraham if the religious is not true
Abraham is just a murderer
knight of faith attitude
in giving up everything I will gain everything
how is the religious different than delusion
to the world, it is delusion: ‘abrahram is wise in his wisdom which to the world was his folly’
