• Production of urea
• Conversion of glucose into glycogen- reversal of this process when glucose is required

How is the liver a major homeostatic organ of the body?

• They maintain a constant, correct balance between nutrients and waste molecules in the body fluids
• Remove glucose from the blood and store it as glycogen
• If blood glucose declines- the liver can make new glucose to release into blood
• Insulin and glucagon regulate these homeostatic processes
