  1. Assist others to board / Cut painter

When should Drills be done?

A

Drills should be treated as if it were an actual emergency

• If passengers will be onboard for 24hrs+ : Muster & lifejackets

• New passengers : Safety briefing

• Fire / Abandon ship: Every month

• If more them 25% of crew has not done Fire / A.S drill within 24hrs of leaving port

• Ship enters service for first time / major modifications / major character joins : Drill before leaving port

• Enclosed space drill every 2 months

HRU

Validity?

Explain how it works along with how it would be attached to a liferaft.

A

2 year validity.

Submerged to 1.5m - 4m diaphragm compresses, releasing spring, cutting strong rope, releasing liferaft and allowing the liferaft to float free.

The strong rope attaches the STENHOUSE SLIP to the HRU
~> (hence when cut the liferaft can float free)

The painter is attached to the top of the weak link
~> (when the liferaft inflates the buoyancy vs the sinking ship will break the weak link allowing the liferaft to float free)

The bottom of the weak link is attached to a strongpoint on the ship.
