ACT 1
“But alls to weak for brave Macbeth”
Shows macbeths positive image at the beginning of the play and it foreshadows how his ambition strips that image away from him slowly throughout the play
“Why do i yield to that suggestion whose horrid image doth unfix my hair and make my seated heart knock at my ribs”
Shows that Macbeth is having dark thoughts about killing Duncan after finding out he can take his role and be future king and these thoughts are making him terrified, foreshadows if he will have dark thoughts like this again further into the play due to his ambition
ACT 2
“I am afraid to think of what i have done”
Shows that Macbeth is panicking after killing king Duncan as he let his ambition overtake him and he is feeling guilt and fear of getting caught.
Foreshadows further into the play as he may kill again due to his ambition getting to him but will he feel as guilty next time
“With all of great neptunes ocean wash this blood clean from my hand”
Shows that no matter how much water he uses to clean the blood of his hands the deed that he done will still never go away, he is beginning to feel guilty and nervous
ACT 3 (TP)
“I am blood stepped in so far that i shall wade no more”
Shows that Macbeths ambition has overtook him completely to a point that he has killed so much and gained so much power that there is no point stopping now, he is continuing to go down his ambitious path
“To the weird sisters more shall they speak”
Shows that Macbeth is continuing down his ambitious path and is visiting the witches to find out more information about his future as king, links back to the beginning of the play when he first visited the witches
ACT 5 (end)
“My way of life has fallen to the sere”
Shows that Macbeth has realised that living his life full of selfishness and ambition has came back to give him karma and his ambition has caused him to die and have failure.
“Tommorow and tommorow creeps in this petty pace”
Shows that macbeth wishes he had more time with his wife as he spent m ost of it worrying about himself and his ambition, Macbeth has lost all emotion and that his ambition has changed him as a man since he can’t show much emotion even though his beloved wife is dead
