- Malcom compared to the other kings is seen as a direct contrast to the unholy evil Macbeth – is talked of before the British king Edward who is described as the ’most pious’ and Macduff is said to ‘never once broke my faith’ this shows his positive kingly qualities and how he could maybe lead the country well and bring it out from the darkness Macbeth has rules – shows the necessity for positive kingly qualities to lead a country and the negative effect the wrong king can have

• when Malcom pretends to be evil it is to test Macduff make sure he is loyal to Scotland not Macbeth and is there to help not kill him
• Macduff says ‘thy hope ends here’ reflecting his want for a new king for Scotland but not just any old king – he wants a king who will benefit Scotland – proving his loyalty
  -the loyalty to Scotland causes them to be able to build allies – reflecting how people will remain loyal to their country and in the end, they succeed showing the necessity for the rightful king to be on the throne and how anyone that is disloyal this will eventually lead to their downfall
