Cuts ACROSS the grain to REDUCE SPLINTERS and guide when we are sawing.
Can used with SHARPENED PENCIL to show the cut clearly.
Try square
Mark or test 90 degrees line to an edge or corner.
Marking gauge
To draw line ALONG GRAIN, parallel to the end. The sharp point called SPUR.
Cutting gauge
To draw line ACROSS GRAIN parallel to end.
Uses a small blade to do so like a pizza cutter.
Mortise gauge
To mark out MORTISE or TENON by using two spurs

Mark out 45 or 135
Sliding bevel
Set to any angle and tightened.
