Explain how a single stage oily water separator works?
A coaelscer filter works by using a material with an extremely low coefficient of friction (PTFE) that allows oil droplets to be molecularly attracted to the filter and rise upwards when enough gather momentum. The water however will not adhere to the filter and falls (as it is more dense) to the bottom and run away as free water.

Explain NOx regulations for new engines?
Diesel Engines are only allowed to produce a set amount of NOx emissions at certain RPMs.
They are split into Tier I, Tier II and Tier III. Tier I is for vessels built between Jan 2000 and Jan 2011. Tier II is Jan 2011 till Jan 2016. Tier III Jan 2016 onwards.
From Tier I to III there is an 80% reduction in NOx from the use of new equipment such as exhaust gas recirculation and Catalytic reduction. (HUGS and Xeamos)
