Landslides
Occur on cliffs made from a softer rock and deposited material. Slips when lubricated, usually after heavy rainfall
Rockfalls
Occur on cliffs undercut by the sea or on slopes, this is caused by mechanical weathering like freeze thaw
Mudflow
Heavy rainfall can cause fine materials to flow downhill. The soil becomes saturated and can’t hold any more water so it keeps flowing downhill
Rotational Slip/ Slumping
Softer materials overlies more resistant materials causing the cliff face to move downward
Soil Creep
Occurs when there is slow almost impenetrable but continuous movement of individual soil particles
