Sankey Diagram?
Shows how energy is distributed. The width of the arrow relative to the whole arrow width is the proportion of the energy that flows away from the main arrow. Small arrow 40% of main arrow size so 40% of energy is diverted.
Can be used to describe all the energy transfers in a system.
Different mapping representations?
Geometrical Representation:
The locations of sites/objects on this map have to be accurate and correspond with reality. If not everything fits onto the map then you must expand the map from every side in order to capture all the information. The locations of things on the map must be accurate.
Topological Representation:
Where the locations of things on the map dos not have to be accurate. You can alter the positions of everything just to fit everything onto the map.
Use of nodes, what does this mean?
When mapping systems such as flow around campus to all the buildings we can simplify this and compact the map by usig a tree structure. The tree structure is purely hierarchical, no loops to save space. Each building is a node e.g. node p with many radiators inside the building which as all sub level nodes e.g nodes s.
