CARING FOR THE DYING
RESIDENT
give mouth care often. If unconscious every 2 hours
(Q2H). Apply lubricant to lips and nose
Give baths and incontinent care as needed (PRN). Bathe
perspiring residents often. Keep skin clean and dry.
POSTMORTEM CARE
Bathe the body. Be gentle to avoid bruising. Place drainage pads where needed: most often under the head
and/or perineum (genital & anal area).
