Instruction
Teaching how to use the devices, and what resources are available
Perceptual training
Related to direct training (auditory training, lip reading, speech and language therapy), typically one-on-one
Counseling
Self-efficacy, referrals, support/self-help

Temporal processing, dichotic listening, and monaural low redundancy
Temporal processing
- Perception of sound within a restricted time domain
- Need to detect differences in time to make meaning of speech
Temporal processing test
Random gap detection test, detect if there is one or two clicks
Dichotic listening
- Provides information on the function of the left and right hemispheres and the transfer of auditory information between the hemispheres
- Present, both ears with competing messages at the same time
