Magnification: parts of the microscope
There are different parts of the microscope that function for different processes.
Ocular lens
It is the eyepiece that is looked through. It has a magnification of X10
Objective lens
These lenses have different magnification. On a light microscope, you have X10, X20 and X40. This is aways multiplied by the ocular lens. For example, the X40 would be X40 times by X10 which =X400
Fine adjustment knob
It is used to bring the specimen into sharp focus. Very sensitive
Coarse adjustment knob
Used to move the objective lens or stage up and down.
