Density-independent factors
Any force that affects the size of a population regardless of the of the population
Example: natural disaster, droughts, floods, fires, and hurricanes
Density-dependent factors
Species populations in the ecosystem will be affected differently, the effect is dependent on species
Example: diseases, competition, and migration
Logistic growth model
Population growth when there is a density dependent carrying capacity
Population overshoots
When a population has too many individuals to feed compared to food availability
