newtons 1st law
A body remains at rest or in uniform straight-line motion unless acted on by a force.
The time rate of change of the linear momentum of a body is equal to the force F applied to it
newtons 3rd law
For every action, there is an equal
and opposite reaction
what is newtons 1st law called
inertia
newtons 2nd law formula
F = ma
rotational motion
body rotates around a pivot.
the rate of change in the angle is the same for all
parts of the body, but the velocity and
acceleration along the body depend on the
distance from the centre of rotation
translational motion
whole body moves in same direction. In pure translational motion all parts of the body have the same velocity and acceleration
vertical jump
A vertical jump involves bending the knees to store elastic energy, then extending the legs to exert a downward force on the ground. The ground exerts an equal and opposite upward force (Newton’s 3rd law), producing an upward acceleration (Newton’s 2nd law). When this force exceeds body weight, the jumper leaves the ground. After take-off, only gravity acts, causing upward deceleration, a momentary stop at peak height, and downward acceleration until landing.
