First European to document the Mississippi River. He was appointed Governor of Cuba after getting rich in the Conquest of Peru. He died in 1542.

was a navigator and conquistador and he led the first European expedition to explore the west coast of what now would be the U.S. during 1542 (current California coastline). His birthdate is unknown but he died on January 3, 1543.

Spanish explorer and conquistador he in 1513 became the first European to cross the Isthmus of Panama and name the Pacific Ocean. He established the first stable European settlement in South American mainland. He died in Acla (present-day Panama)
