Battle of the Big Little Horn (June 25, 1876)

Wounded Knee Massacre (December 29, 1890)
The Army came across a group of Native Americans and announced they were searching for weapons to the 350 they had rounded up. A gunshot suddenly rang out (to this day, no one knows why) and the result was over 300 massacred Native Americans.
The Dawes Act (1887)
In 1887, the U.S government made an attempt to “Americanize” Native Americans. Known as the Dawes Act, the law offered Native Americans farmland in the west if they agreed to live like American citizens. It also called for Native American children to attend U.s schools and learn English. This (by the Native Americans) was seen as an insult to their culture and an attempt to end their life.
