Two-Tiered Architecture - Collapsed Core
A “collapsed core” is when the distribution layer and core layer functions are implemented by a single device. The primary motivation for the collapsed core design is reducing network cost, while maintaining most of the benefits of the three-tier hierarchical model.
Tier 2 = Core & distribution
Tier 1 = Access
Three Tiered Architecture
Used CAN(Campus Area Networks) 1 building hoses Core switches that other buildings connect to 3: Core 2. Distribution 1: Access
Spine-Leaf
Full mesh 2-tier architecture used it data centers for optimal speeds & redundancy
