From the position in which you naturally stand, between 2-9 degrees of flexion of the lumbar spine is possible within the neutral zone.
Why we need neutral zone
Within the neutral zoen, pressure on passive structures in the spinal column is minimal. This helps us to avoid injury .
Is neutral zone the only one option?
In strength training you might not always be able to assume a position in the neutral zone - this is where maintaining position becomes important.
