extended name of NFV
Networks Functions virtualization
Why NFV?
high-volume multimedia era -> there is the need of improving network operations (think about the car the drives autonomously)
NFV goal
to leverage standard IT virtualization technologies to. consolidate network equipments onto standard servers, switches, stooge that are located in data centers, net nodes and end user devices
it wants to use a small number of standardized platforms
How ETSI NFV is composed and what it does?
it is an industry that defines the requirements, architectural frameworks and interfaces for NFV.
It has multiple Working/Experts group that create group specifications
Which are the elements of a NFV framework?
NFV workflow

Service function chain for NFV
image
A Network Function Chain defines the flow of traffic through different VNFs to achieve a desired network service. Each VNF in the chain performs a specific function or set of functions, and the chaining of these functions creates a service path.
sevice function graph for NFV
image
It represents the interconnections and relationships between various virtualized network functions (VNFs) in a more abstract and graphical manner. While a Network Function Chain (NFC) specifies a sequential order of VNFs for a specific service, a Network Function Graph provides a broader view of the relationships and dependencies between different functions within the entire network architecture.
The Network Function Graph is a more flexible and abstract representation, allowing for a dynamic and adaptable network architecture. It captures not only the linear flow of functions in a service chain but also the potential for parallel processing, distributed architectures, and other complex relationships between network functions.
