How else can they increase glycogen stores?

A

firstly the athlete depletes their glycogen stores by cutting down the amount of carbs in their diet
then 3 days before the event they massively increase the carbs they eat and it increases their glycogen stores so they have more energy for that event

delays the onset of fatigue

consumes carbs 2-4 hours before the event and then eat them two days after to replenish the glycogen stores
