The elderly. Those with autonomic neuropathy. Those on antihypertensive medication. Overdiuresis. Those with multisystem atrophy.
What is the aetiology of orthostatic hypotension.
A drop in systolic blood pressure of >20 or more on standing from a sitting or lying position.
What mechanism usually prevents orthostatic hypotension in normal individuals.
Reflex vasoconstriction prevents a drop in pressure.
