What is heel expansion in orthotic device?
A
1- additional material or space built into the heel cup of the orthotic to accommodate the natural expansion or bulging of the heel’s fat pad when a person stands.
2-Heel expansion is typically achieved by adding plaster or other material to the heel area of the cast from which the orthotic is made. This creates a slightly wider and deeper heel cup in the final orthotic device.
