Q

How do we punish people who donk and float bet weak SDV pairs?

A
  1. We raise them ASAP and force them to fold or play very big pots with weak hands.
  2. Their strategy suffers the most when we raise them.

What Are Key Timing Tells?

A
  1. Snap/Fast Bet On River or Board Changing Card = Bluff
    1. Quick river bet is often overbluffed b/c they’re trying to look strong
    2. Snap bet on board changing card is often a bluff
  2. Snap/Fast Raises = Strong
    1. Very quick check raises are usually very strong and are rarely bluffs
    2. Fast RFI (0-1.5 secs) is stronger while long delay then RFI (9+ seconds) is weaker - measured by percentage of time people fold to 3bets
      1. We can 3bet light in these spots
    3. Fast 3bets (0-4 secs) are stronger while slow 3bets (10+ secs) are weaker
      1. We can 4bet light in these spots
        3a. Slow Preflop RFI/Raises = Weaker
  3. Slow Raises on Simple Board = Bluff
    1. Tank raise on flop/turn in a simple spot that isn’t complicated is likely bluff heavy
  4. Snap/Fast Calling = Cat 2 / Capped Hand
    1. Snap calling a 3bet within 2-3 seconds they’re usually a fish
    2. Snap calls on flop or turn mean a category two hand that isn’t considering raising
  5. Slow Calling = Likely To Fold
    1. If someone takes a long time to call a bet on a street then they’re much more likely to fold to a bet on the next street
  6. Snap/Fast Check = Weak
    1. Snap check is a weak hand that’s likely to fold to a bet
    2. Betting big flop then snap checking turn on a brick is a weak hand. We can bet huge (1.5-2x pot) river vs their super capped range
  7. Slow River Check = Weak
    1. Tank check OOP on the river is usually a weak hand that wants to get to showdown by looking strong

Q

When do we bet bigger? 4 answers.

A
  1. Vs recs/fish w/ value because they’re inelastic
  2. When we unblock top pair (calling range), even on the flop
    - bet smaller when we block top pair
  3. Vs capped ranges after they check back or call OOP on two tone board
  4. If you have a strong hand on a river when lots of draws have missed, bet big (overbet) because it will look like a bluff

Q

What are the three primary implementations from Carrot?

A
  1. Play your hand, not your range. Make the best decision to maximize the true EV of your exact hand
  2. Probe bluff turns & rivers for 1/2 sizes very aggressively
  3. Attack capped ranges w/ huge bets

Q

What are three key preflop exploits (open raise sizes, vs loose/agg or loose/sticky, and behind multiple limps)?

A
  1. Preflop Open Raise Sizes: bigger when not getting 3bet, with weak players in blinds, from CO-HJ to steal button.
  2. VS loose aggressive OR loose sticky opponents, we want more high card hands and fewer implied odds hands (PPs, AXs, SCs) b/c we will win more hands w/ medium strength holdings
  3. Behind multiple limps, only isoraise hands you’d open in EP

Q

What are four overfolded lines to attack w/ 1/2 pot stabs or big bets or raises (3 lines, 3bp)?

A
  1. X multiple streets in a row (delayed cbet, probing, floating)
    1. Recs only overfold to river probes after cbetting small/medium
  2. After skipping a cbet IP or OOP, or not betting next street after XR (probing or floating)
    1. Recs fold to river probe second barrel 62% of time
  3. People overfold to third barrel in 3BP as PFC OOP (they XR strongest hands)
  4. SRP PFC OOP river prober or turn/river double probe barrel folds 60% of time to a raise

Q

What are four underfolded spots to be cognizant of?

A
  1. People underfold vs raises preflop/flop/turn
  2. Fish/calling stations are very sticky on turn - be careful bluffing
  3. Fish bluff catch wide on river overcards but otherwise aren’t sensitive to board textures when calling
  4. Be careful overbluffing when tons of draws miss, people bluff catch wide

Q

How do we attack aggressive 3bettors?

A
  1. OOP: XR more on single/no broadway boards (especially rainbow) and fire a 2nd barrel on turn before giving up
  2. Overbet probe turn if they check back flop two tone b/c they’re capped at single pair hands

Q

What are river bet sizing exploits we should use vs. recreationals & unknowns?

A
  1. Bet slightly less than all-in to get more calls AND bet allin overpot to get more folds
  2. Bet exactly 1/2 to get more calls AND bet a typed in number slightly over 1/2 to get more folds

Q

When can we overbet next street?

A

Brick turns on next street if they checked back IP OR if they only called OOP on a two tone board (both: they can’t have two pair/sets+ and are capped at one pair)

Q

What are three multiway pot bluff/semi-bluff exploits to use?

A
  1. Bet more draws multiway on T high and lower boards, then barrel
  2. XR multiway limped pots on rainbow, T-8 high boards + two 5 or lower cards w/ overcard + backdoor
    1. Especially vs an IP stabber who has the weakest range
  3. Bluff Stab in 3way Limped Pots after Flop Xs Through (Stab less on connected/draw heavy boards)
    1. Bluff 1/2 turn from blinds on paired boards (paired flop or turn)
    2. Bluff stab 1/2 turn from blinds w/ draws
    3. Can bluff stab 1/3-1/2 river from blinds on brick river or w/ draw blockers (i.e. one of flushed suit)
17
Q

Turn betting exploit vs. fish & calling stations

A

Value bet them wider, don’t pot control

18
Q

How to play turn draws as PFC

A

Call turn wider w/ draws & high implied odds (flushes & SDs IP, only straight draws OOP)

19
Q

How should we play flush completing turns IP?

A

Almost always bluff 1/3 IP w/ air or blockers when flush completes on turn - be aware people bluff raise wide here so I can bluff raise back or call and bluff river

20
Q

Do we 3bet bluff recreationals?

A

No, they call way too wide.

21
Q

How do we play draws on turn on paired boards?

A

Barrel turn aggressively w/ draws

22
Q

What should we know about paired boards in multi-way pots?

A

Be very cautious. This has tripped me up many times.

23
Q

What hands play best multi-way and what hands are good but need caution?

A
  1. Pocket pairs, AXs, strong or connected suited hands.
  2. Be careful w/ low suited connectors/gappers & mediocre flushes
24
Q

How do we adjust at passive tables w/ lots of flatters & multi-way pots?

A
  1. Open tighter from EP
  2. Widen flatting range w/ PPs & AXs
  3. Limp PPs more
  4. Exploitatively bet bigger for value when you unblock top pair
25
What types of players do we need to study the showdowns of the most?
1. Aggro players, high VPIP players, and any unorthodox players
26
What should we do when we spot a player's leak?
1. Zoom out and identify what other line/range is way too strong/weak as a result.
27
How important is sample size in HUD stats?
1. Very important. Don't adjust too much based upon low sample sizes because they could just be running hot or cold. 2. Be careful labeling someone as a maniac until you've seen them bluff. They could just be running hot.
