Human patients report chest pains, coughing, severe effort to breathe. ALI follows.

In dogs: lethargy, restlessness and coughing. Eventually, the signs progress to anorexia, dyspnea, and death

• dogs exposed to 100% oxygen survive an average of 2-5 days while dogs exposed to 75-89% live up to about 14 days
• interruption of exposure to oxygen can also reduce toxicity
