Clean the injection site that I have chosen on the abdomen not near the belly button or previous injection site. Pinch the skin tissue and inject the heparin at a forty-five degree angle

Stop the administration, disconnect IV tubing, remove catheter if no antidote is given, elevate the site and apply a warm or cold compress. Cold packs can help with pain and inflammation and hot packs can help disperse the medication and reduce localized effects.
