Authoritarian
Strict rules established by parents. Failure to follow rules results in punishment with no reasoning behind rules
Authoritative
Parents establish rules and guidelines that their children are expected to follow. More democratic. responsive to children and willing to listen to questions. More nurturing and forgiving rather than punishing
Permissive
Parents have very few demands on kids. Rarely discipline and are generally nurturing and communicative. More like a friend a parent.
Uninvolved
Few demands, low responsiveness, little communication. Fulfill basic needs, but are generally detached from kids lives.
