CIDR
Classless Inter-Domain Routing: Determined by the amount of 1 bits in the binary subnet mask. Delineates the network bits from the host bits.
VLSM
Variable Length Subnet Masks: Allows us to use different subnet masks in the same classful network. Essentially splitting IP octet bits into network, subnet, and host bits.
