Saccades
To get a clear picture, we’re constantly redirecting our gaze to different directions (about 3/4 per s)
Lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN)
Signal goes to LGN in the thalamus. This consists of 6 layers, which each respond to left or right eye. So still separate here.
Magnocellular system
two bottom layers, magnocellular ganglion cells (big neurons), predominantly parafoveally
Parvocellular system
4 layers, smaller neurons which receive more projections from the fovea.
Optic radiation
Axons from the LGN project signal to the primary visual cortex
