- normal labs w/in 4-6 months before surgery may be used as pre-operative tests, provided there are no changes in clinical status of patient
- current recommendation are for current lab tests based on specific signs, symptoms, and diagnosis
- may incl: CBC, extensive blood chemistry, urinalysis, ECGs
