What are the general steps for a blood draw?
1.Confirm patient’s name and date of birth
2. ask if they have a preference for their arm position it correctly.
3. Place tourniquet 3 to 4 inches above draw site.
4. Half patient make a fist, palpate, prep site
5. insert needle at 15 to 30° angle level up.
6. Insert evacuator tube and connect once blood flow begins. You may release the tourniquet.
7. Fill each tube completely once finish cover with gauze, then remove needle.
8. Dispose of needle.
9. Label tubes.
