A
The census is a ten year survey of the population which asks social, economic and demographic questions. taken every 10 years.

What is Vital Registration (VR)
A
VR is the official recording of births, deaths, marriages, adoptions, and civil partnerships. In non-census years the total population can be estimated through VR data.

Why do we need a census?
A
The data collected from censuses allows government to allocate funds, decide future policy and plan important services.
