A caliper-like instrument used to record the spatial relationship of the maxillary arch to some anatomical reference point or points and then transfer the relationship to an articulator

Do you find the midline on the wax before or after adding the Take 1 registration paste?
Find the midline FIRST, the align the midline to the midline notch on the bite fork and hold into place using bite registration material….secure until set
What are the steps for assembling and removing the face bow?
- Place bitefork in mouth and hold securely (utilize the patient)
- Add transfer jig (#1 and #2 FACE OPERATOR)
- Carefully place the ear-bow in the ears
- Line up the third point of reference indicator at a point 43 mm superior to the edge of the occlusal rim
- Tighten the transfer jig securely
- Remove total face bow
Can the patient hold the bite fork?
Yes and No. They can hold it for you with their hand, but not with their mouth
What is the procedure for securing occlusal rims to the edentulous bite fork?
- REcord patients midline
- Heat the bite fork over the bunsen burner and imbed it in the wax rim
- Cool the wax under cool running water
NOTE : there will be difficulty removing it
