1. Is using Accutane (do not wax for 1 year) / Retin A / other retinol products
2. Has recently undergone a chemical peel
3. Recent laser treatment
4. Shows symptoms of sun-damage, redness, irritation.
5. Has recently had a sunbed treatment.
6. Shows signs of hypersensitive / vascular skin (DO NOT WAX OVER VARICOUSE VEINS).
7. Have cuts, open wounds or abrasions in the area to be waxed.
8. Has an outbreak of herpes.
9. Has diabetes, hemophiliacs.
10. Eczema, psoriasis, skin tags, moles or warts.
11. Recently used blood thinning medications.
12. Has autoimmune disorders(AIDS, lupus).
13. Has any contagious infectious disease

1. Sanitize treatment area, cover bed with paper
2. Check wax pots to make sure they’re working
3. Wash hands and wear gloves
4. Go over health history form with client (ask questions)
5. Explain the treatment to the client including expected sensations and results

Describe the general waxing procedure

1. Prepare area to be waxed with pre/post-treatment
2. Test the wax on your wrist to ensure the temperature is appropriate
3. Use a clean spatula to apply wax in the same direction of hair growth
4. Remove wax in the direction opposite to hair growth
5. Clean off excess wax using the strip
6. Apply post-treatment

1. Wear gloves when performing any waxing treatment
2. If the hair is too long, have the client trim it.
3. Prepare and sanitize the area
4. Ensure client is slightly reclined.
5. Never go over the same area twice. You could damage the skin.
6. Always look at the area to see which way the hair is growing.
7. Never double dip your spatula into the wax, use a clean one every time
8. Get the most out of your wax strip by reusing it as much as you can
9. Pull the skin taught when applying and removing the wax
10. Hard wax needs to dry completely before removal
