low natural increase may corollate to a country with high levels of development because in the late stage of the DTM there are high levels of females pursing a career over a family which delays and prevents births therefore leading to less births to counter act deaths. Sex education is also common in late DTM stage countries which also helps with lowering the birth rate as young women can prevent pregnancies. High standard medical practices are another reason for low natural increases because they lower the child mortality rates and are a key contributor to high levels of development.

Malnutrition and diseases related to malnutrition - Food insecurity will lead to malnutrition for the people will be unable to reach the daily bodily requirements of 2,100 calories. This leaves people weaker and without energy which in turn makes them more susceptible to disease as the body does not have the energy nor the resources to fight the diseases. This was seen in 2008 Yemen where 2000 people died from cholera as they were too weak to fight back the illness.
