Answer 1

• Before the first flight of the day, or
• When there is a crew change, or
• When dep airport is within 2° N/S, or
• GPS not available and NAVAID coverage is poor on route, or
• GPS not available and flight time is > 3h

When to perform a fast IRS alignment

Answer 2

• If a complete alignment is not necessary and:
• Difference between IRS position and FMGC position is at or above 5NM
