What are the insurance responsibilities of a landlord and tenant?
Landlord’s are not legally obliged to insure the property though it is a requirement of many buy-to-let mortgages. Landlord’s insurance is a building insurance which may also cover contents. It is not a responsibility of the landlord to insurance the tenant’s contents. This is the tenant’s responsibility though it’s not a legal requirement.
