Transference: pt projects feelings about formative or other impt persons onto the physician

Displacement: pt redirects emotions/impulses to a neutral person or object (e.g. a teacher is yelled at at work; instead of confronting boss, she goes home and criticizes husband’s dinner selection that night)

Projection: Attribute unacceptable internal impulse to an external source (e.g. man who wants to cheat on hi wife accuses wife of being unfaithful)

• Typical: trifluoperazine, fluphenazine and haloperidol (high potency) have more EPS/hyperprolactinemia; chlorpromazine, thioridazine (low potency) have more anticholinergic, antihistamine, alpha1 blockade fx. “Try to Fly High, Cheating Thieves are Low”
• Atypical: “-pines” (esp olanzapine, clozapine): metabolic syndrome. Risperidone: hyperprolactinemia/EPS risk. Clozapine: agranulocytosis, seizures (dose-related)
