What if curve is maximum?

A

Go reverse factorisation or…

Formula: x² - x(Sum of roots) + (Product of roots)

If maximum, formula: -[x² - x(sum of roots) + (product of roots)]
Try x = 4 & x = 5 if curve is minimum
Try x = 2 & x = 1 if curve is maximum
Check ans using calc.

  1. Start solving 2 equation simultaneously (Sometimes not needed)
  2. You will get stuck so use discriminant accordingly
  3. If b² - 4ac = 0, solve & find answers
  4. If no equal to solve the inequality (could be linear in quadratic)
