Be honest. It’s not about being perfect but using your experiences wisely.

Q

How would you improve user experience on a section of the website?

A
  • Main navigation links do not indicate to the user which one is selected.
  • Some images are clickable while others are not. The user has to hover over the image to tell and even this is subtle.
  • Clicking on the “Software” link takes me to an entirely different experience.

Q

How did you handle when your design is opposed by all the senior management and you know that it is right and they are wrong?

A

Find the evidence to prove your point. Whether its competitive analysis, usability testing or anything you need to back up your claims with research. Focus on its impact on the business, revenue and the customer. It’s important to note however that you need to do this in a very careful way. Leveling with people and talking to them very frankly can go a long way. Mention teaching in Oakland. This is where you first learned how to do this. Lots of psych involved here.
