Card 01.
Uphill lie. What are weight and foot positions?
Answer.
Weight on inside RIGHT foot.
Angle RIGHT foot into slope.
Shoulder matches ground slope.
Card 02.
Downhill lie. What are weight and foot positions?
Answer.
Weight on inside left foot.
Left foot angled into slope of ground.
Shoulders match slope of ground.
Card 03.
Chipping and pitching.
HT get ball high in air?
HT keep ball low to run on ground?
No matter what chip or pitch you use, ball is NEVER in middle of stance.
Each chip and pitch WEIGHT IS FORWARD. Like 90% to 60%.
Chip/pitch high, ball is at front foot.
Chip/pitch low, ball is at rear foot.
Card 04.
What to be aware of on a short pitch/chip.
Swing the water bucket.
All weight forward.
Ball forward for high flight. CF contact under ball.
Ball rear foot for low rolling flight. CF contact center of ball
Ball is NEVER in middle.
Hinged BS with fold.
Look where you are aiming and adjust setup.
Hands in front of club.
Precision grip.
Totally committed. Decide then swing. Do not change your mind and back off. Same law on a putt!
Good lie, make low approach.
Deep rough, steep DS.
Card 05.
What to be aware of on regular shot.
Straight left arm, hold strong “V”, maintain width, left foot 10:00, right foot straight. Keep hands far away from head. Chin up at setup. Triceps glued to chest. Start with pelvis turn TA, 90 degree fold. Shoulders rotate in PLANE 7 to 1. BS Goes half back to shoulder, with left knee inward on toes. Right elbow goes away from chest. .5 second. DS starts with pelvis AND left heel going to ground. Shoulders going IN PLANE 7 to 1, grip gets shaft on plane toward ball and feet. SWING NOT STARTED YET!
As left heel heads down and weight forward, shoulders GUIDING GRIP IN CIRCLE, right elbow starts firing to body, swing is starting! Impact through ball with HOCKEY SHOT grip. I should feel like my right shoulder is powering ball. Watching contact point entire swing. Entire swing is a body swing doing the swing dance. Swing fast, but don’t swing hard. Lead with left but … Impact hitting both hands evenly. 1.5 seconds. Tip: Think of just swinging the grip for the entire swing. This helps shape swing rotation of club and stops swinging from the top and CASTING the club. This rhythm also prevents me from putting weight on right foot in my DS.
Card 06.
19 November 2021 Range. I was hitting mat behind the ball. I was slicing the driver. Balls didn’t travel far, 47 degrees. No shots we’re going straight. Reason: I caught myself swinging with my arms. Near the bottom of the bucket I realized why I was driving to the right. Because I was 1. Swinging with arms. 2. Swinging out to in. Noticed club face is way open when I folded shaft. 3. Was starting DS way too fast and too early. This was bypassing all my checkpoints.
I made corrections.
Card 07.
From a voice memo “Driver” 2022 What ingredients SB used on my Driver?
Card 08.
How can I help my transition and DS?
Card 09.
What else should I practice and keep in mind before my swing?
2 You go to transition by unwinding the shoulder turn. This naturally brings the swing though transition and keeps the “V” and straight left arm into impact.
Card 10.
What does Hogan’s book give for checkpoints?
Card 11.
Some closing thoughts.
Use a weaker grip on Drives and woods. Squares CF much better so I don’t need to square manually.
I noticed that on slower swings, I could track square CF much better and hit with great contact. 5,6,7 I can use inside path for swing and ball still goes straight using half swings.
On half swing, 7,8,9, PW use swivel up quick V just like my short pitches. This plus hitting 1/2 inch down on ball makes ball go very high. I discovered that on all clubs a half swing makes better contact and goes straighter than a full swing. Especially getting over the creek!
Explain why playing golf in very hot weather is dangerous and does irreparable damage to your organs.
Answer: As your body gets warmer, your blood gets closer to your skin. You sweat to cool down. Heat stroke occurs when your body reaches 105 degrees.
Here is what happens. Your heart is working extra hard to get your blood to your skin to cool your blood down. Then your major organs, including your brain, are not functioning on the blood supply they normally need.
Continued on answer card.
Your organs are now starving for blood! The blood starved organs take heavy damage which is permanent, just like an accident with your car. Fenders and panels all smashed and permanently damaged. The damaged fenders and panels remain damaged until replaced. Same with your organs.
Throughout your lifetime, the damaged organs now continue to reach higher stages of failure until they (YOU) die.
This explains why older people get heart and kidney failure later in life!
Like even the television weatherman says. “Dangerous heat”** This kind of heat causes **“Cumulative organ damage”.
Note: Drinking lots of water only helps keep you from being dehydrated. It does not save you from organ damage.
As a side note: Surgeons, race car drivers, firemen and astronauts wear some type of cold water vest which circulates the cold water through a maze of water tubes at 45 degrees to prevent overheating and organ damage.
