  1. Read across risk with the signal on the Down Gloucester Fast Line….. signal could be obscured by freight trains at Kings Norton Depot on the LHS
  2. If your last signal SY62 was a single yellow then you would be travelling at max 15mph, which allows plenty of time to target fix your signal to ensure you do not read across. Make sure you observe the correct signal by checking the line identification plate (DS) which is above the signal

  1. SAS SPAD risk (I.e. you have just changed ends, running late, Guards gives you 2 on the buzzer without checking the signal first)….. there is also no AWS magnet for the signal
  2. Ensuring the DRA is set when getting in the cab and only pulling it off after you have done all the cab checks, rechecked the signal and given the 2 buzzer back to the Guard)

  3. Wrong route risk…… poor adhesion approaching the signal….. SAS SPAD risk….. 6 car stop marker is very close to the signal so when you have stopped the view of the signal could be restricted….. Mitigate against these by approaching the signal with minimum power….. check the signal to ensure you are being correctly routed….. use the DRA correctly
