A stoma is made in the trachea whereby this is a another airway to aid breathing
Maybe permanent or temporary

Patient passport or care plan = follow it to the letter
- incorporate PTS responsible person ( competent = had training)

How do you suction any secretion in pt with tracheostomy or laryngectomy

• remove inner cannula ( check for blockages)
• replace with non fenestrated one
• pre oxygenate
• measure inner cannula with suction catheter
• insert catheter with ( inner cannula in insitu) upto 2cm past
• suction only when retracting @150-200
• re oxygenation required

Febrile upto 5 yrs - due to the hypothalamus isn’t full developed = during infection temp sky rockets = seizure
