How does the voluntary opening device work?
Once tension is released from the cable system:
- object being grasped is “trapped” in the device
- allows wearer to position the object in space appropriately
voluntary closing device
volitional force and excursion applied by wearer CLOSES the TD from its normally open position

- ability to volitionally grade prehensile force
- adapting to characteristics of object to be held
