What are the types of sin?
Venial and mortal
How are venial/mortal sins?
VENIAL - Small, not serious, not knowingly done and not completely deliberate.
MORTAL - Serious, deliberate and knowingly done.
What does Reconciliation means?
The restoration of a relationship that has been damaged.
Which are the parts of the Sacrament of Reconciliation? (In order)
Preparation, confession, penance, contrition and absolution.
What’s preparation?
You examine your conscience and reflect on your recent sins.
What’s confession?
You admit your sins to the priest.
What’s penance?
Listen to the priest and accept what he wants you to do to make up for your sins.
What’s contrition?
Express genuine sorrow and regret for sinning these ways.
What’s absolution?
Receive God’s forgiveness through the Church.
Give 3 examples about Jesus’ teaching about forgiveness. (I have out plenty of correct options, so you are completely fine just saying three)
-God’s love is a forgiving love that saves us from sin.
-The lords prayer - “Forgive us our sins, as we forgive others”.
-If we want to be forgiven, we have to forgive (the unmerciful servant).
-Jesus tells Peter that we should forgive others as many times as needed.
-In the adulteress woman, Jesus did not blame her for sinning. He forgave her by offering her a new way to live. “Go and sin no more” he said.
-In the parable of the Prodigal Son, Jesus teaches us that God will always wait for us to come back to him.
In the parable, the Father (God) is happy with the younger son (sinners) because he has come back to him. But he is not happy with the older son (unforgiving people) because we does not forgive others.
How does the death of Jesus makes the forgiveness of sins possible?
Jesus not died for our sins but because of our sins. Sin leads to death.
Jesus came to this world and had a perfect, sinless life, so death had no hold on him.
Jesus chose to die in our behalf. He took our punishment for us and prayed that we would be forgiven.
Since our penalty has been paid, God will forgive all who put their trust in Jesus.
What are the precepts?
The precepts are the rules Catholics have to follow.
