What is redemption?
The christian belief that Jesus made up for Adam and Eve’s sins and brought humans back into relationship with God
What is the fall?
When Adam and Eve changed from obedience to disobedience to God by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden
What is Original Sin?
Catholic teaching that the fall caused all people to be born with a tendency to commit sin
Why did God give humans free will?
Because he wants humans to choose to follow him rather than be forced too
Why does Sin exist?
In order for God to give all humans free will, it means some will miss-use this free will too commit sin
What does it mean to atone?
To make up for wrongdoing

What did Jesus’ death tell/show us?
- Jesus showed obedience and love to God the Father
- Jesus restored relationship between humans and God
- Jesus restored cosmic order (harmony between all of nature and the universe)
What did Jesus’ burial tell/show us?
- Jesus “descended into hell” and freed those who had died before him.
- Jesus promised that his people will follow where he has gone, so this proved that God is with people even in death.
What did Jesus’ resurrection tell/show us?
- Jesus is victorious over sin, suffering and death
- Life after death is now possible
- It is the most important event in christianity
What did Jesus’ ascension tell/show us?
- Before being lifted to heaven, Jesus promised to send the holy spirit to complete his work
- Jesus instructed his disciples to be his witnesses and tell everyone about him
- The ascension shows Jesus is with the father, and christians will also be raised to heaven
- He told the disciples he would return at the end of time

He sets an example through his obedience to the father

Jesus restored the relationship between with God and Humans, and also restored cosmic order

As he was victorious over suffering, sin and death

Because the coming of the holy spirit (pentecost) is believed to be the birth of christianity as it is when the apostles began their mission to spread the good news.
What is salvation?
Being saved from sin and therefore going to heaven
How did Jesus make salvation possible?
As he redeemed all humans by dying on the cross
How is salvation shown in the past?
Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection and ascension made it possible for people to enter heaven.
How is salvation shown in the present?
- We choose wether to accept or reject salvation by following Jesus’ teachings
- The holy spirit also guides us towards salvation (heaven)
How is salvation shown in the future?
Salvation will be completed at the end of time when sin and death are completely destroyed

“Jesus paid a ransom for the sin of all humans”
- After the fall, humans became slaves to the sin.
- Jesus paid a ransom (with his life) to free the humans from sin.
