135 Alternate Airport Requirements
When is an alternate required to be filed?
135.223b
Alternate Airport IS REQUIRED to be filed if from +/- 1 hr from filed ETA at primary airport wx is less than:
- Ceiling
< 1500 above lowest circling MDA; if no circling
minimum published, < the higher of 1500 above
lowest published minimum, or 2000 above airport
- Visibility
< greater of 3 miles or 2 miles more than lowest
applicable visibility mins (for the approach to be used)
