A rock is a naturally occurring, multi-granular aggregate of minerals, and consists of fragments of one or more kinds of mineral.
What are the three different types of rocks?
Igneous Rock
Rocks that from by crystallization of melted rock material known as magma
-Consist of interlocking crystals of various minerals.
Sedimentary Rock
Rocks formed at earths surface by lithification of weathering products of pre-existing igneous, metamorphic or sedimentary rocks.
Metamorphic Rock
Rocks that were originally igneous or sedimentary but as a direct result of heat and pressure have changed in texture or mineral composition or both. Not undergone melting.
Monomineralic rocls
Consists of aggregates of a single mineral (Quartzite-Quartz)
