rules for wheelchair and powered mobility scooters

  • use pavement when available (but pedestrians have priority)
  • always try use drop curbs when moving onto pavement
  • at night lights must be used and try and make yourself more visible
  • must not be used on motorways

A
  • at night you must have a white front and red back light lit. It must also befitted with a red rear reflector
  • should not pass a hose on the left
  • must not cycle on the pavement
  • leave. door width or 1 metre when passing a car
  • dont ride across equestrian crossing as these are for horse riders only OR pecan, pelican and toucan

> ride in the centre of the road on quiet roads, in slower moving traffic
when on busy roads: allow faster vehicles to overtake

stage 1: when traffic light turns green, go straight ahead to the location marked by cycle symbol and turn arrow on the carriage way then stop there.
stage 2: when the traffic lights on the far side of the junction, now facing the cyclist, turn green, they should complete the menoevre

  • advisable to wear eye protectors which must comply with regulations
  • MUST NOT carry more than one pillion passenger and only if the motorcycle is designed to do so
